The richness of Serbian folk language was reflected also in various names for colours used for dying of the material necessary for the folk costumes. Here are some of the names for certain colours: chivit- indigo blue, pembe-pink, jangar-turqoise, aleva- bright red, junjurliya- wine red, juvez- dark red, krmezli- maroon, turunj- orange, morava- violet, kavena- brown, vrana- black, etc.
