"Pamuklija" is a type of gown very similar to waistcoat, but unlike the gown, it covered the chest, too. It used to be worn over the shirt, older people used to wear longer version, whereas girls and young women wore a shorter one. It was made of manufactured materials, velvet and velour. Summer gowns were sleeveless while the winter version had long sleeves and front overlapped coattails. They were made by very skillful craftsmen, regardless the material used, they were always filled with cotton and sewn in the pattern of parallel stripes and triangles. They were ones very richly decorated with silk ribbons and embroidery, ornaments being mostly vegetable.
