"Japunja" is a type of raincoat, semi-circle sleeveless cloak, mostly used by the population of Dinaric area. It is considered that its origin belongs to the distant past of the pre-Slavic period and represents a characteristic of these regions where the Slavic and old Balkan population mutually pervaded. It was made from 12-13 ells of white, black or red cloth, it was sleeveless and open at the front in its full length. It had a collar around the neck onto which the hood was attached with the help of woolen loops and buttons. Borders of this hooded cloak were studded with 6-8 rows of black woolen bands. They had stylish triangular patterns of a twig, also made of bands. This raincoat was usually worn by the man of the house and the travellers, and there was also a custom that a bride also wore this raincoat if she travelled on the horse, in case of cold weather and storms.
